I am looking at a 2006 175 alumacraft with a 25" transom and a 2005 185 alumacraft with a 20" transom. Which is the better choice?

Tough choice. the 175 has the 25" transom, which is a plus, but the 185 is the bigger boat. If it were me, I would go with the smaller boat with the taller transom. The cutout for the engine is not as deep, and therefore more transom sticks out of the water off plane. that may negate the need for wave wackers even if you backtroll some. I think smaller boats are easier to handle and trailer as well. You probably can't go wrong with either.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did go with the smaller, after much debate. Mostly because it was like brand new and was set up better. With more goodies. Cost more, but hopefully worth it in the end.
