My girlfriend asked me what I wanted for my birthday coming up beginning of October and I thought about what I could use for fishing (what else right?) and I thought either the new platinum chip for my 38HD or a Cabelas Insulated Guidewear Parka.

Has anyone installed these new chips in the newer Lowrance big screen units?? If so how do you like them and are the additional features worth it?

I pretty much only fish Erie and Ontario a few times per year and only see myself fishing great lakes and st clair so I don't know how useful it would be over the 2 navionics chips I have in one unit and the maps that are pre loaded in the HD unit.

Thoughts..what would you guys like???

Kevin, I looked at the chip and it had too much clutter for my liking. I don't even use the chip I have now the preloaded map is fine for me on Erie. Tell her you want a TR-1 instead. lol
