Have a motor that went bad, on a friends, 9.9 kicker Yamaha 4 stroke, on the tilt /trim motor lift apparatus
Where can a person buy one reasonable? is it hard to replace? and does $800 seem like too much for labor and materials to install one?

Thanks!

While I couldn't find one for the 9.9 with a quick search, it looks like the Yammie tilt/trim motors for the larger outboards run in the $200-$250 range (unless to get to 200HP and up). I would assume one for the kicker would be no more or even less expensive, so I'd say (assuming I'm correct on my assumptions, again I didn't find the exact part and haven't looked at the motor on the Yammie but have changed them on OMC outboards) that $800 is very high to have this done.

Incredible that a little bitty motor like this costs over $200. It's highway, or marine robbery.......

I used boat.net to order some tilt/trim o-rings and valves. They have great exploded view on their web page. Service was incredible and price on parts was 30% less than my local dealer.

Motor replacement would be a piece of cake IMHO...< 1 hour job.
