Hey all,
I have an '07 Dominator 175 cs and am planning on mounting a cd player in it here shortly. My local dealer wants $250-$300 to put it in for me and I only payed $100 for the radio. Wondering if anyone has this boat with a radio or cd player already in it and where you have it mounted. I was thinking under the control panel, but I don't think there is enough room due to various wires already behind there. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Nick

I have a 08 Navigator 175 dc. I have radio/cd player mounted on the drivers counsel. It's mounted on the left hand side of the counsel where you would walk between the two counsels to get to the bow. My dealer said it's the best place to mount it. My last boat was a Alumicraft dominator cs and the radio was mounted in the same place. There's really no room to put it right up front on the dash, too many wires or the support brackets are in the way. Kinda sucks if you want to change you music when your driving but it's out of the way of every thing else. Buy the way my dealer charged me 100.00 to install radio. Most of the other Alumicrafts I saw at dealers all had the radios mounted on the left side of the counsel. Hope this helps you out..

I have a Alumacraft Navigator 165CS. I spoke with an engineer at Alumacraft and he said it would fit on the front console facing the driver. After looking at all the obstacles I elected to install in on the side of the console. I figured if you made one wrong cut you would ruin your console. Make sure you purchase the splash guard cover for the CD player. I think they are around $25 or so.
I found a great deal on a new CD player that was last years model. It came complete with a remote that allows me to control everything from the drivers seat. I think I got it for around $60.
The Alumacraft engineer told me that the 09 modules were going to come with a cutout on the front console for a radio. As well, I think he said the Navigator was alos coming out with the jump seats like the Dominator.

thanks guys. i talked to the dealer from who i purchased and that's what they recommend as well. will putting it in the walkway not interfere with the rod locker door. i think the slash guard that came with my radio will be in the way, but won't know for sure until i start the project.
Huskr,
Another option is to put it on the bow side of the console.
Generally, this part of the console is free of wires and obstructions.
It is a bit less convenient from the bow side of the console, but it is also out of the way of the walkway etc.
This is where I mounted my radio in my present boat since there was really no other place to mount it.
I never have the radio on when running, due to wind wave and engine noise.
Most of the time when fishing I am in the bow area, so it is actually quite convenient to have the radio mounted on the bow side of the console.
I use the splash cover and have no issues with moisture in the radio.
Take care
Roger
