How are G3 boats holding up for thier owners? I am looking at a Guide V170T. I did try the search and it would not display the page.

Crosbystick do you know if G3 is a wood free boat? Any wood in transom? Is the G3 a welded or riveted boat or both?

Thanks in advance.

I have an 2005 G3 V170T, it was called an Outfitter model then, but it is the same as the Guide series now. I bought it as a new leftover last Sept and had it powered by a new F50 tiller that has the trolling speed control on the handle. The floors in my boat are diamond plate aluminum. As far as wood in the transom, I'm not sure, but I know there is wood under the front deck where I mounted my trolling motor. I'd have to look around, but I think there was some information in the boat papers refering to a type of pressure treated plywood and a guarantee for it. Overall it's a great boat but I did have an issue with gas puking out the vent while trailering. They changed out the tank to one with baffles, but if I fill it too much it will still puke some. I had the dealer install a shut off valve in the vent so while trailering I just shut the valve to eliminate the problem. Everything was done under warranty and they were very caring for the problem. I'm very satified with the boat, easy to trailer, launch and recover by yourself. It will GPS 30 MPH with my wife an I. You may want to consider maxing the HP if you plan on fishing with 3 adults on a regular basis. For occasional usage my F50 has been fine for 3 people.
