how can we have a record hatch in 2003 and those fish can't produce a good hatch?

I think it has more to do with the weather during the spawn than anything else

That's not what the biologists tell me perch, they said there are tons of variables, but one is number of spawners. The weather in 2003 included gale force winds??

They are being caught and eaten. Lake has been hit hard the last 4-5 years. Yeah it's a big body of water but how long can the good fishing go on. We continue to have poor hatches, fishing might get a lil tougher in a few years.

This is not good news BUT the 2003 hatch was produced by a low population of walleyes and all that I have read and heard from biologists and sea-grant folks is that number of spawners has little to do with a successful spawn. Obviously there have to be fish to spawn but... I think you know what I am trying to say
