Stevereno,
From what I am seeing on the weather channel, I would keep my rain gear ready, or take up a new hobby:)
Take care,

The weather has cleared, I'll bet the water has cooled down. Time to call in sick and go get some kings.

I don't know if it is over yet or not. I live at the end of a tributary from Salt Creek and there is a 100' spillway that prevents the salmon from migrating any further. The basin at the foot of the spillway is about 50 yds long by 30 yards wide and my son and I counted at least 30 very dark and large salmon just hanging out as the water was rushing down the spillway. Every year, we have a few that end up at this spillway but I think this year is a bonanza due to the excessive rains. So, vetspet, it is really a tough decision whether to walk out back and cast spoons for these salmon or go up on top into the lake and hammer 12 and 13" crappies and 10" red ear gills. Also, if anyone is considering taking vetspet out on their boat at the walleye central get together, be warned: I hear he sheds and is not yet house(boat) broke! Couldn't resist!

nobody seems to know what is happenin g with the water so high still...i went out sunday and struck out...did not see any kings or perch caught....went all over the place wed...yesterday...first went to new buffalo mich and the bait shop said it was not good lately so we went all the way to south haven and fished out front in 45-38 ft water w/o a hit...not one boat fishing there...so we came back in and south to st joes...put in and fished mostly out front w/o one hit..not one boat fishing there....on the way home we stopped at the new buffalo ramps and asked the attendants if anyone was coming in with fish...they said it was real slow....so we came home empty handed...steve

Thanks for the report.. Sounds like next week the weather is suppose to cool down, I would think that should trigger them to move if they already haven't done so. Is the water outside the Harbor muddy still? You said the water is high,so how is it launching at the public ramp in Portage any issues? Thanks

Went to Berrien Springs Satruday afternoon until 9:00 PM. Bounced spawn and a few flies. Had one hookup, very short lived, and one other hit. Saw one fish on until pulled free and one snagged fish. Nothing else. People talked to said it has been very slow ever since the high water from rains. One person indicated fish were in at Paw Paw but no other confirmation.
Hope to hit Erie starting the first week of November.

Well Hello Again James ,Mike ,& Al. I dont have anything to say about the salmon, but I hope James is healed up from the Lyme disease. ( if that was the final diagnosis)
I heard through the rumor Mill only that some Perch were caught by Inland in the last couple days. I wish there was some further info, But I dont have any. So it may be time to go on a quest. I'm sure I'll be out by the breakwall in the next week or so.
Talk to you guys soon
