I have a motorguide on my triton and hate the cable steer. it has no friction , it flops all over the place, very hard to controll. I want to swap it out for a terrova or powerdrive. I had the powerdrive on my last boat with the long cable foot pad. Whats the differnce in the terrova and powerdrive.

I suggest staying with motorguide so you can use the mount. Just get the electric steer. You'll love that footpedal coming from the cable driven one.

I get a deep discount on Johnson Outdoor products. I have the gator mount on the Motorguide and would use a quick release bracket on the Minnkota. Is this a difficult swap?

you have to drill new holes. Heck I even had to drill new holes going from the old Motorguide Big Water gator mount to the new one.
Alot more rigging than just putting the new motor in the mount and wiring in the plug on the new motors lead.

I like my terrova. The speed control wheel is better than the new PD which simply placed a wheel over the slide control. Its still a little balky. I also like the easy deploy device, but I have been warned to always put the collar down on the shaft. Also, if you like the remote control, the receiver fits inside the terrova, and the remote has a couple of extra features. Watch out for the high bypass, as you could accidentally engage it at a bad time and get wet!

I had the PD on my last one and and now have the terrova and...whow what a difference even in the co-pilot...genius putting the auto pilot on the co-pilot fob. I love Mercury but Minnkota's trollers are just...the best. I have the 36v version and noticed a huge difference on how much less taxing it is on the batteries than the PD as well.

I had a motorguide for three years and hated it, I switched to a terrova and will love it. The difference is night and day between the two.

Hate to ask a dumb question....On my Minnkota Maxxum there is a screw on the bottom of my pedal to adjust tention. Dosen`t the Motorguide have this? It is what keeps my Minnkota from being sloppy and being able to walk a way from it when the power is on and not turning by itself..

I have not found anything that will tighten the slop. Its like balancing a ball on stick. My ankle gets tired trying to control it . Definetly cant take your foot off with it running , you could go right off the deck.
