I have 5 days off...a Thursday through Monday (Columbus Day) in early October, and I'm looking to do some Walleye fishing. Am willing to travel up to 6 hours. I live in NE. Illinois just south of the WI border about 30 minutes, and have thought about Erie but have not been out there so I'm not real familiar with that program. I know I could hire a guide for the first day if I did go there, but the weather always worries me there. Any suggestions of places to go where I could get a chance at some numbers as well as an occasional big fish as well? Guide(s) names would be appreciated as well. Thanks!
PS. Don't want to do the Bay De Noc thing. Have done that to death.

You could try Pool 4, Everts Resort has some awsome guides
http://evertsfishingresort.com/, good hand to jig combat with 10# eye

Or better yet you could go to work for me and I will take the time off:peepwall:

I have been there once before and fished with James Holst, so that is a possibilty. It poured rain ALL DAY long, so that wasn't fun, but we did catch fish. Would it be too early for the hogs at that time of the year or not? Thanks Eyes!

Go to Erie! Huron/Vermillion area is the best place at that time of year to catch a number of pigs! Not much to the program, planer boards, deep reefrunners, a decent depth finder and your in buisness. i will be up there untill mid nov. on the weekends. give me a hollar on channel 79.

I have been thinking about that as well. The weather always concerns me there. Hate to go there an not have a chance to fish due to the winds for a day or two, but the chance to catch the piggies always intrigues me for sure. Thanks!

Anyone fish the LaCrosse area and the Mississippi River and know someone in that area that could show me the ropes? Just curious. Thanks again.
