Im looking at installing a minn kota engine mount trolling motor on my 619 with a 200 opti. This will be used exclusively for pulling crawler harnesses at low speeds as I am sick of fighting with a kicker/drift sock and my bow mount is a cable drive which is useless for this style of fishing. I am trying to decide on whether to get the MK101 36 volt or the MK160 24 volt. My bow mount is currently set up in a 24 volt system, but I could hook up another battery in series with a switch disconnect if I went with the MK101. At only $100 separating these 2 units, is there any reason that you can think of why I shouldnt go with the MK160? Weight? Not low enough minimum speed? Affect performance of large motor? Seems to me that the $100 difference in cost more than outweighs the cost and weight of adding another battery and the messing around with disconnects?

Any guidance you guys could offer would be greatly appreciated.

I can't comment on the 160 but I would image it would be overkill for pulling spinners, plus two motors will wipe out a 24V system in a hurry. I have a 101 on my 621 and I love the unit, I have the 36 V system and couldn't be happier. Some of my friends have the 80 pound terrova and they can fish all day in a 20 ft aluminum rig, granted it's not the EM but still a 80 pound unit. I think the 80 pound EM would suite you well.

Has anyone out there with a 619 tried an 80 lb thrust engine mount. What kind of run time can you get out of your batteries?

I had an earlier one on my '01 619, 200hp...it was the 52# model 24 volt. I could troll all day with it. I have the 36V model on my 620, works great, but I think it is overkill...bought it because the boat was already rigged for 36V.
