Is there a decent trail cam to buy for under 200 bucks? And is the infared ones better for not spooking the deer over the regular flash ones?

I have used trail cameras for about 5 yrs. I have bought many of the cheap ones and they have all gone back to Cabelas! Do yourself a favor and wait till you can afford a cuddeback! And as far as the flash goes, that is up for debate, but I have over 600 pics of a 190 class buck just this yr and you would have a tough tim convicing me that big boy would have stayed around that long with the flash going off in his eyes! Just one mans opinion! Good Luck!

I have used most of the IR cams on the market and every one stands out in it's own way but there are some NOT to buy! Here are a couple...
Stealth Cam Prowler stay far away from this junker, BAD BAD quality pics night/day and terrible customer service, not too much good to say about this cam!
Bushnell trail Scout is Ok not worth the money again bad quality.
and yes the Cuddeback DO NOT BUY ONE!! it is by far one of the worst camera I have used very unreliable, leaks, blurry pics, hard to use, eats up batteries for example, this year on the good ol cuddy the cam took only 56 pics and the batteries are dead 3 pics were worth keeping..Junk!
out of all the cams I used the Moultrie I-60 it is by far the best... best quality pics, easy to use, reliable, excellent battery life and it's only $299
Predator evolution is another good cam but the quality of pics are not the best.
Hope I could help!

OOOPS....one more thing Yes deer do see the IR going off, they may not see the red but they do see it light up. For example the Cuddy flickers semi fast, Stealth stays on for a long time, Moultrie on and off fast. Predator has the best feature you can set it to light up or not it just depends on how far you want it to trigger from.
It depends on how long the shutter needs to stay open to gather enough light for the pic, that is how long the IR stays on for. So yes deer do see it and can get cam shy and for a flash the deer do NOT see it they just know something happen and they get uncomfortable and avoid it. I do have plenty of proof to prove this as well.

I 'v been using a Stealth Cam for about four years.
Works just fine. It is the low priced 35 mm cam.
The reason I went with the low priced model is, if it gets stolen
I'm out $60(sale price), not $200 for a digital cam.
And I do know a few people that had theirs stolen.

You can go to chasinggame.com, they review all of the game camera's on the market. In the $200 price range, the Scoutguard 550 get's the best review's. Everyone that has one love's it. I am going to order one shortly. The Cuddeback's have alway's been one of the better camera's on the market, but the new "lower priced" model's seem to have a lot of problem's. I have 3 of the $69 Moultrie digital's that work ok, as long as you can put them over bait or something that will hold the deer in the same spot for 20 second's. Trigger time on them is terrible, battery life is ok, and picture quality is ok.
