O.k. so lund makes a great boat but skimps on the seats, at least on my '03 model. The wood on the bottom has gotten soft and is rotting and cracking and the backs of two of them can't be leaned on. This is because where the metal bracket screws into the wood the wood is falling apart.
My question is, will Lund dealers repair these seats or has anyone had seat repairs done somewhere else? To buy new is expensive and the seats are in great shape except for the wood.
I mean if your gonna use plywood at least use marine grade!

I had the same thing happen on a 10 year old Lund seat. All you need is a staple gun and some new anchor nuts. You just take the old staples out, trace the old to new plywood, cut it out with jigsaw, put new anchor nuts in, and staple new plywood bottom to the seat vinyl.
A good hardware store has the anchor nut, and a staple gun if you don't have them.
Pretty easy...........:exactly:

Be sure and paint the new plywood with some type of wood preserver/waterproofer, the seat will last alot longer. I beleive some seats use plastic instead of plywood for there seat backs and bases.

Marine grade warps when it dries out that is why it is not used. The new seats are all composite. Attwood "Centric" seats are like the new Lund ones but about $50.00 per seat cheaper.

Have you check with Lund directly? I have know several people that had issues with Lund products with quite a few years on the boat and talked to Lund and they took care of them very well. One example: My buddy wanted to put in a new floor on a boat that was 10-15 years old. Called up Lund and they sent him all the pre-cut wood and carpet and all he had to do was pay for the shipping. Thats one reason to buy a Lund. They seem to really stand behind their product. IMHO

Several years ago I had seat problems w/ my Lund, dealer said it would take several weeks to send back to Lund so I took the seats to Lund myself. Found out that Lund does not make the seats but farms that work out to another company in town. They fixed my seats while I waited and in about 2 hours was on my way back home. I paid for the material & they paid for the labor. Can't beat that for service.
Good luck,

Did the same thing as TBOMM described. Very easy job and only takes about an hour to get it done.

Thought that I would revive this as I have left this as my winter project. I have so far taken apart the seats and removed the wood from the bottom. I think that it is going to be a pretty easy repair. Like others have mentioned.
I am going to get good quality fir plywood, stain and treat it as well as give it a couple of coats of paint. This was only done on one side of the original bottoms. So I will be improving the seats when all is said and done.
Thanks to all for your help and advice, I love using these forums for help. Happy new year all.
If any of ya are heading up to northern manitoba to do some fishing give me a shout. (The Pas, Flin Flon, Thompson area) We have some of the best drive in fishing in the world, rivals some fly-in places, that is for sure.

I have repaired three Lund seats. The hardest part was getting the screws out. Most of them were rusted to the Tee-nuts. Those I ended up prying out from the rotted wood and then I ground/cut the rusted Tee-nuts from the screws and followed up with a threading die. The rest of the job was fairly easy. I also coated the new wood with spar varnish.

Yeah that was exactly my issue too, couldn't get the screws out of the tree anchor things. I just pried them out like you, two of them I was able to grab with a vice grip and back them out but about three of them had to be destroyed to get the seat off.

I also need to repair a seat, but mine is broken up by the backrest. The base is fine, the backrest leans way over. Has anyone tried to repair that part of the seat. Do you basically repair that as you would the base.
Thanks in advance...

Mine is an 03 fisherman and I have trouble with the plastic sleeve staying in place between the pedastal post and seat. I have tried gorrila glue, not luck and some super glue, minimal success.

Your dealer will not fix the seats, dealers will inturn send the old seats to the Lund factory for repairing. Lund then returns the bad seats to the company they outsource the seats to for repair. The place that builds the seats for Lund is in the same town and only a few blocks away. Or at least it was a few years ago, I know as I've been there. This process will take several weeks so if you can, do it it the winter time. I took my Lund seats to the place Lund was using and had then fixed in the same day, probably took 2-3 hours at best and I was on my way back home.
Good luck,
