I am looking at a Stratos 1760DV is anyone running this rig and what is your opinion on it. I am thinking of this with a 115hp. probably a Opti or Etec, upgrading the trolling motor to 24 volt. and changing the electronics. For the price it looks nice but I would like to know what kind of performance I should expect and how does it handle it rough water.

I noticed that nobody has answered you in regard to your inquiry. This boat has had zero complaints from our customers (in MN) and performs very well with 115hp, or even a 90, which is another reason this boat is great. Should be a little over 40 mph depending on load (one customer claims 46mph). To give you an example, Yamaha ran this boat in a performance bulletin with a 75hp 4-stroke and got 36mph with 2 people, 28 gallons of fuel, test equipment and the optional second console! This boat gets plenty of bow lift and is a dry ride. Huge rod lockers in the center and side compartments, by the way. As far as motors are concerned, an Optimax or Etec is a good choice, but my opinion is that you are better served and will be happier with a 4-stroke on this rig, whether it is Yamaha, Suzuki or Mercury. Performance is very similar now, and the 4-strokes are quieter and cheaper to run (contrary to what some infomercials may tell you).

Thanks Charles for your input. I was thinking about the Etec 115 HO. Is this going to have better performance then a 4 stroke? I have a friend that runs a lund with a Merc 115 4 stroke and he is a little disappointed in the performance, and wishes he went with a 2 stroke, so this is a factor in my choice. You are right about the compartments, that is what cought my eye on this boat. Again thank you for your response.

I have a 385XF, which is the 18.5 foot Stratos, and couldn't be happier. I have a Yamaha 4-stroke, which I love, so I can't really help you on the Etec/Opti part.

I talked to Stratos the other day, and they agreed with the above reply. They said with a 115 we should expect low 40's top end.

I keep thinking, man, would that boat be nice with a 25 inch transom and a 150 on it. Nice garagable size and nice layout with what appears to be more storage than the typical glass boat (at least from the pix on their website). Plus, it would give Ranger some competition in the 1750/1760 line now that Ranger has upgraded this hull to 150 hp. There appears to be about 5-6K difference in price with a similarly outfitted boat. However, I have not checked on the trailer capacity for the Stratos and I don't see it listed on the website.
