In another thread there was a discussion going on "Sonar Sharing" with Lowrance units that have the Ethernet capability. I looked on the Lowrance web site and found the following:
Lowrance Technical Bulletin No. 20/01-07-08 Sonar Sharing via Ethernet
Sonar Sharing via Ethernet
Lowrance head units that contain a 5-pin Ethernet connector are capable of sharing scrolling sonar data. This feature allows remote head units to view scrolling sonar as well as control sonar functions from another unit’s transducer.
To connect any two Ethernet devices, including head units, only one Ethernet cable is required. To con-nect more than two devices, the Navico Expansion Port is required and each device will need an Ethernet cable connecting it to the expansion port.
Only one transducer is required for multiple display units connected by an Ethernet cable. However, multiple display units connected by an Ethernet cable can share sonar information between two or more transducers.

You can view the full bulletin at:

Please note that you can NOT find this on your sonar menu screen unless the ethernet cable is attached and working AND BOTH units are powered up. Once each unit discovers the other on the ethernet link the Sonar Source menu item appears.

This cabability was apparently implemented in 2007 per this bulletin:
New 2007 display unit software features
• Panoramic photos for many ports and marinas with Navionics Plati-num card.
• 3D cartography charts with Navionics Platinum card.
• Aerial photo overlay of land and coastal areas with Navionics Platinum card.
• 2D and 3D synchronization with Navionics Platinum card.
• LBS-1 (Lowrance Broadband Sounder) digital sounder optimizer com-patibility.
• Supports full range of Lowrance radar line, including the new "high definition" radars.
• Sonar sharing capability between units with Ethernet connection.

Thanks for the info Paul,

But your link doesn't show the whole bulletin does it?

Also, the thread you are looking for I believe is:

The bulletin was just the two pages and it came up OK for me using that link. You can find some additional info by doing a search on their site using either Sonar Sharing or Ethernet.

It sure is a nice capability. I checked on mine and there is no split screen option for displaying info from two transducers simultaneously. Would be a nice idea though.
