I have used the Mille Lacs one foot contours and they are great. I used them all this winter and I found them very accurrate. I think the Lake Master is well worth the money.

Just got mine last week and have spent more than a few hours playing with it already. All I can say is WOW! If this thing is is accurate as people are touting than it is definately a "must have" item....

Ben,
Here is a good place to start. Keep in mind that they do not work with all gps machines. Good Luck.

I have had mine for a month or so its great.
The coordinates are right on.
I compared them with my boat numbers and they were fine.
Now all we have to do is wait for the ice to melt.
See ya on the water!

My fishin buddy has Lake Master 1ft. contours for Leech. He is having trouble with the interface for his Lowrance X-15's. Apparently the X-15 or GM 3000 are not on the hardware list. Is anyone having success uploading their waypoints to one of these Lowrance units?

Have heard alot of good things about the Lake Master Reelbottom Mille Lacs software. The only negative is that some people are having problems with the software locking up while using the zoom feature. This problems seems to be inherant to particular verisons of Windows, although I don't recall which one(s) off hand.

Ben,
As the others have mentioned, this software is very accurate. The 2 most commons problems people have with the software are related to the zoom feature. On computers using Windows 2000, your computer may lock up when trying to zoom on sections of the lake map (you may be able to fix this with some system adjustments). The other thing is zooming in and out can take your computer some time to redraw the screen.
Once you get used to the software, I would suggest working with a portion of the lake you are most familiat with and you'll quickly see how accurate it is with structure contours.
Good luck,

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but is the lakemaster program intended to only be used on a computer and it is only the waypoints that can show up on the gps? Or can you create map backgrounds with the contours that will appear on the gps as a constant reference?

The PC program is mapped based with common GPS coordinates. It allows you to upload your coordinates from your GPS as a backup system or you can generate new coordinates to add to your GPS.

This sounds very Hi-Tech, I need to ask a simple question. How does the graph and lake map interface. Is it the same kind of media card and card readers that digital cameras use? I'm thinking about retiring the LMS350 and buying the X15 and the Lake Master software.
Please advise Thanks Bob

So to clarify what I think I'm reading...the output to my gps would be limited to waypoints in lat/long? No background map data. Correct? Sorry for the confusion.

That's correct. For the most part, your GPS provides the mapping (display) software and the waypoints are just an overlay to this system.
The Lakemaster software that you install on your PC is more accurate than any of the existing maps available for Mille Lacs. In turn, you can create custom waypoints from this software and then upload them to your GPS unit(s). For instance, while using the Lakemaster software you start looking at the 8-mile flat. You notice this cool inside turn that's adjacent to deep water. You zoom-in to review at 1-ft contour detail. Finally, you decide this might be a great place to try fishing so you create a waypoint. Now you can take this waypoint and enter it into your GPS. I tried this with several spots I ice-fished this past winter. Worked very well. It is a great way to create a milk-run of places to try the next time you go out.
If you have time, go back to the archives and look for the Weds night chat with Mike Michalek from Fishing Hot Spots. Great insight about mapping software and how it works with GPS's.
Good luck,
