I have a new fiberglass boat and was wondering what you guys are using to clean it? Also how many of you guys wipe it down when you come off the water? Thanks in advance. Brent

I would recomend Wonderfoam for cleaning and Restore making it look like new. Do a search here on Walleye Central for restore wonderfoam. After using Restore which is a cleaner wax you will notice when you wipe down your boat after coming out of the water the gunk comes right off real easy. The stuff works excellent! call or email if you have any questions at all. We do ship out the next day. :) Skeeter

Wax the boat with Carnauba wax once in the fall and once in the spring. I use Colonite Fleet wax, but there are many brands of Carnauba wax.
After using the boat I was it with boat soap that doesn't strip off the wax. There are many brands of good boat soap.
Then I dry off the hull with a chamois cloth. I found that the artificial chamois cloths made in Japan are better than the natural chamois cloths.

I second a vote for Larson Sales Products.
Skeeter's stuff is the best in my book.
My old Yarcraft looks like new, other than the battle scars ... so does my lawn tractor, truck, car, etc ...
I let my wife use the wonder foam in the showers this weekend and she ended up ordering 3 more bottles for herself !!!

Is it safe on those "Glitter boats"??

lolol now thats a cool thread huh? hahaha Yup it sure is. Makes those sparkles just jump out at you. The girls love it and you can attract schools of fish faster. Hows that? Plus your supporting WC to top everything off. Not bad huh? Skeeter

I use the Pro Tech products. They have a nice starter kit that includes the wash, wax/polish, a degreaser that I actually used on my truck carpet and it was awesome and a detailer/showroom conditioner. I do mine like everyone else; once early and once late. I wipe it down when I yank it out and then about every third time, I put that detailer on. That detailer really makes it look sharp (for a 10 year old boat). Also, it's resistant to fingerprints... That's nice.

I use Meguiar's fine-cut cleaner followed up with their professional polymer sealant twice a year.

I don’t wipe the boat down when I come off the water but I do wash it ~ once a month.

After using the rig I wipe it down with Bass Boat Saver, sold on bassboatsaver.com. The stuff really works. It has uv protectant, cleaner, and gel coat protectant in one coat. It really seems to keep scum lines from forming between wipe downs too. I was the thing a couple times per year, but not even sure if I need to with the bbs.

Not freguenting this board very often, I was not aware that the Skeeter products supported WC. rereading the post by Skeeter does paint a better pic. With that said, I get alot of help here as well, and will try some of the product when my bbs is gone and give it a whirl. Thanks for the tip.

I think you will like the products. The Restore is good stuff. I also use it on my Black Harley now. Works better than the other stuff I have been using and easier to work with.

Just came back from Mississippi River Pool 8 at LaCrosse, WI from a 4 day trip and have a scum line on my white fiberglass boat that WON'T COME OFF no matter how hard I scrub and wash. Tried washing it with some generic boat wash stuff and some elbow grease. Need some ideas of what to use to get this BROWN SCUM LINE off my boat. It looks like a coffee line going across the side of my boat. It almost looks like it has "absorbed" itself into the fiberglass because I can't get it to come off no matter how much I scrub and put pressure on it. Ideas? Thanks everyone.

Wonderfoam will get it easy! Then a follow up with the Restore which is a wax/cleaner will make her look new again. Remember by purchasing these products you are supporting Walleye Central as well. Skeeter

I bought the products for the same reason except I had my white triton in pool 9 by desoto. Same scum line. Sat for a week before i washed it. Ordered skeeters stuff. the wonderfoam took the scum off with just a car wash brush on a pole. Hardly even scrubbed it , just brushed it around, rinse and gone. Restore the next day and man, it was good as new.

Skeeters Restore is great stuff.
Easy to use too, my grandaughter loves to help polish the boat or truck. (Pic in my album)
I just wish she could reach higher...

I thought Wonderfoam was just for use on water spots on the motor cover. I have some at home and the directions only talk about using it with hard water spots. I guess I'll try it on my scumline on the fiberglass. Thanks Skeeter.

ALL of you have to go to MODOG'S Album and check out little Hannah at work on her grandpas boat. It is SO cute. What a pic. Gave me the idea of getting my grand girls over and having a big party. First the boat, car, truck, camper..... No I wouldn't carry it that far. lol Thanks again for the pic MoDog! Skeeter

Brian1785, wonderfoam works well for the scum lines as well. Wonderfoam is used to clean the waterspots and scum lines due to water deposits etc. I do my boat in quarters because you only want Wonderfoam to set on boat or motor for one min. So I start off with front quarter of boat. Very important - wet down area to clean first with water. Spray on Wonderfoam and wipe it around so it covers the entire area. Let it set for one min or so and rinse off very well. If you still notice areas that are not clean repeat otherwise continue on to next quarter. When boat is clean and dry shake up your bottle of Restore and spray on boat or motor. Wipe it around (no reason to rub in) with a clean soft rag. As soon as it dries to a haze wipe off with another clean dry soft rag. If you notice any streaks get another rag and wipe it again. The rags do fill up so to speak and when they do you will see streaks. You will also notice we have several other products that will make your fall clean up easier! If you have anymore questions please feel free to email again. Thanks Nels AKA Skeeter

I began my annual compound, polish and wax last night on the reata. Last time I did it wax on, wax off, by hand. This time I got an electric polisher for the job.
I was quoted $175 to have a detailer do it and I thought that was highway robbery. I spent $240 for all the equipment and with the way my arm's and back feel this morning, I wish I had just spent the $175.
I made it half way through the job in one night. I'm a little unhappy with how the compounding came out though. It didn't do to well in removing scratches, like I thought it would. I think with a lot more work they will come out.
I started on the starboard side and I was a little afraid of doing too much. I've always herd about how one can mess up with a polisher and rubbing compound, so I'm in a learning curve with this stuff.
The port side gunwale had better lighting so I used a lot more compound and worked it a lot harder. It cut a lot more of the scratches out, but still not as good as I thought it would.
I love my boat. It has done just what I wanted it to do and that was to get me out of the house and away from this computer and the refrigerator, but as with airplanes, race cars and women, it's about to take this old man out physically, and financially.
It's all good, though, hard work never hurt nobody.

New to this forum guys but I have been using a product mentioned earlier; Bass boat saver. The stuff is great. I do try and wipe my boat down every time out but sometimes I just dont have the time. With this stuff you just spray it on and wipe it off. Scum lines wipe off easily.
I'm a walleye/Musky guy but there is a great forum, Bass Boat Central, that is a great reference for all kinds of products and product reviews.
Those guys are way over the top anal about their bass boats and if there is a product that works they know about it. They probably use and reccommend some of the stuff the guys are mentioning here in this thread. Also, I think many of them use a product called (I might be wrong) Transom saver to remove the worst or heaviest crud then use Bass boat saver as maintenance.
My 620 looks awesum.

Angler53, sounds like you do things right. Tells a lot about a person how they take care of their things. One thing for sure like you proved, its not cheap to take care of things the right way but your things will look nice and last a heck of a lot longer. Skeeter

Yeah, my first job was managed by a retired Marine drill Sargent doing ground work on an Air Force Base. We had to wash and dry all equipment, from a Tractor down to even a shovel after use. That's something that has stuck with me. I'm totally anal about it. I can't help myself because I'll never forget some of those thirty second come to Jesus meeting with that guy.

I have to admit that some of my anal cleaning issues are kickoffs are service related as well. After that I had show cars for a period of time as well. Oh sometimes my wife can't stand it. I hate driving her car. She eats in it and has crumbs in it, YUK can't take it. lolol Poor gal is on the run all the time seem I should cut her some slack. I DO HONESTLY. ha I hate being this way. Just am. Skeeter

I have used wonderfoam on everything from my boat, motors, my gas grill, even my metal shed.
Man this stuff is worth every cent. If you have not tried it, you owe it to yourself to give it a try.
Every once in a while, something comes along and does what it claims to do. Man this is the product I wish I had developed. Now if it can grow hair I'd be in pig heaven. No kidding. This product just exceeds all my
demands and make cleaning my boat a breeze.

Give wonderfoam a try. I think you might find it is better than the product you are now using. I have not found anything that matches the performance of Wonderfoam.
