I wish!!!!!!

I had a Boger modified 24" Tempest on my YarCraft Storm TSC (It ran 60-62 depending on the conditions)I wrecked the prop last fall, so over the winter I bought a 24" Fury. I was aching to compare the two, but then sold the boat before we had soft water. Last I heard from the new owner he was tickled with the boat (a Merc mechanic had just gone through eveything)......but he hadn't been on the water.

I am torn, I will watch this post carefully, but I was kind of hoping this wheeel would stay secret, under the radar.

I would like one for my future Storm tiller w a 200 hp, but I am not sure that I will have enough power even with a jackplate to maximise the setup. (My old 225 EFI was more like a 240 hp.)

You didn't say what motor is on your Ranger. A 250 may a 300 would pull it off, but bellow that I am guessing that you would be in trouble.

I thought I read something that the fury prop was more for the bassboats. If so it might not be ideal for anything else.

Hi sark got one coming from sarasota florida should have it my hands tommorow comin by air,Have a 23 tempest and a 23 tempest lab finished prop.Lab finished gave me little top end but super hole shot.Fury is designed for bass boats. But seen a comparison on a 22 foot commache which is a big boat and the fury out performed the temp by 3.4 mph.I will try it this weekend or sooner if the boss gives me the day off to play lol.Im in canada.Home of the Greenback walleye

I tried the Fury and the 24 was just a bit much for my elevation...I think that prop would be a hot rod on a properly set up boat at lower elevation or if they would make a 23 for the guys up high.

My bass partner is running it on his bass boat and he said he gained tremendous hole shot and a little top end over his old 3 blade. Might be because they come stock with no vent plugs. ;)

I have the late 2006 (batteries in the floor) Ranger 620 with Mercury Racing 250 Optimax XS and Fleetmaster gears. Not sure if they are the same as I heard rumors of a 2008 re-design of the 620 but they should be close.

At 4,400 feet the Fury jumped the boat on plane but would barely hit 5200 RPM and had poor top end...like 52-53. I'm also running an 8" jackplate with the motor 3.5" below pad. Trying a 23 Rev 4 this weekend as I am currently spinning a 23 Tempest and fully loaded get between 59-60.

Boat: 2006 Ranger 620 DVS Fisherman (dual console)
Motor: 2006 Mercury Racing 250 Pro XS 25" and 2006 9.9 Pro Kicker
Gearcase: Fleet Master 1.75:1
Jackplate: Hydro Dynamics 8" Magnum
Prop: Mercury Tempest 23", two plugs removed, stock
Setting to Pad: 3.5"
Top GPS Speed: not sure yet
Average GPS Speed: 60
Load: full tourney, rear livewell and full gas
Air Temperature: 80
Water Temperature: 74
Elevation: 4,400 feet
RPMs: 5600
Notes: The jackplate seems to have improved my top end as I am able to get to 60 pretty quick and still have a great hole shot...just not sure what my best top end will be as I have not been able to tweak the trim yet. Definitely improved performance. Switched back to the 21 Tempest after I had the plate set...hit 5800 RPM instantly...running the Fleet Master gearcase my range is 5600-5800 not the Sport Master 6300. :( Hotfoot is next...

Little off topic, just curious as to the RPM difference you noticed between the stock 23 Tempest and the lab finished one?

How did the fury compare with regards to holeshot and bow lift of the Tempest?

Hi Modog Fury had a little less holeshot than the lab one but very comparable to the factory prop.Bow lift is good same as tempest.

24" pitch Fury prop on my Triton 215X/ 300 Verado:
Nice all-around manners, 68.15 MPH GPS @ 5930 RPM- averaged two way run, prop shaft center line running 6-1/4" below pad, 3 solid PVS plugs in (a little sluggish on the hole shot- need to open PVS holes up), Boat loaded light + 20 galons of fuel + 1 person (me). I think the prop is running too deep (motor too low). No chine walk- boat not going fast enough to chine walk. All things considered I would run the 23" Revolution 4 prop instead of the 24" Fury- see below...

Here's info on my Triton with some other props:

25" Tempest Plus prop:
Garmin 76CSx GPS- averaged two way speed = 72.4 MPH @ 5860 RPM.
Motor trimmed all the way out, medium size (7/16" dia. hole) PVS plugs in, about 9 hours on the motor, no jack plate, motor mounted with top bolt in third hole down (two open holes above), the prop center line is 6-1/4" below the bottom of the boat, 50/50 mix of 87 and 93 octane gasoline, 15 gallons of fuel on board, driver only (me @ 220 lbs) + lightly loaded (not me...the boat :), 9.9hp kicker on the transom, no electric trolling motor or trolling motor batteries.
**Comments**The hole shot is barely O.K. with the medium size PVS plugs in, and is better (a little too much slip) with all three PVS plugs removed. I will try drilling out the medium size plugs to a bit larger size- this will probably prove to be just right. I think the prop is running too deep (motor too low). The boat starts chine walking in the upper 60's MPH and continues to chine walk to it's fastest speed.

23" Revolution 4 prop:
Garmin 76CSx GPS- averaged two way speed = 68.55 MPH @ 5930 RPM.
Motor trimmed all the way out, two of the four solid PVS plugs removed (two closed holes and two open holes), about 12 hours on the motor, no jack plate, motor mounted with top bolt in third hole down (two open holes above), the prop center line is 6-1/4" below the bottom of the boat, 93 octane gasoline, 40 gallons of fuel on board, driver only (me @ 220 lbs) + lightly loaded, 9.9hp kicker on the transom, no electric trolling motor or trolling motor batteries.
**Comments**Good all-around performance. Nicer/easier mannered handling and operation than the 25" Tempest Plus prop. I think the prop is running too deep (motor too low). No chine walk- boat not going fast enough to chine walk.

Smokee chub most ppl on here use there boats to fish lol. They have to test them with batteries and trolling motors and gas so they dont run out in a tourny.Like i said before u have a pro walleye boat not a ski boat lol.If i took that out of my boat eg. five batteries trolling motors and a little gas my boat would smoke along. My 23 temp i buzz at 6400 rpm and its got a super hole shot and good speed

Thanks for mentioning this Tony. I am well aware of my boat running light, and believe others reading my posts are in knowledge of this also (thats why I mention it in all of my posts- for others to see and understand). I'm just trying to help out others here. I am not aware of anyone else posting numbers of their Triton 215X & 300 Verado- if there is, sorry I missed it. Beyond the fact that my boat is running much lighter than a tourney rigged boat, I think that others interested enough to read what I write will do a little mental math and realize that their full tourney laden Triton 215X & 300 Verado may not make the performance numbers I have posted...
