I know this was talked about last week but I can ot find it! I need the web site for the maps thay I can bye in each region! I think they are $129.00 for each area! I have a x15 and I think the software comes with the hardware! I went to fishing hot spots and they did not have a link to it. I think it was navicons???

iamwalleye1:

The Navionics folks sell 2 kinds of downloadable contour maps. One is the Hotspots maps, the other is their own maps. If I recall correclty the Hotspots version was about $25 and the Navionics own version was $125 or so.

I am going to they the Hotspots version first ... during the discussion MikeM held a couple of weeks ago, most folks said they worked fine. Then, if I find they are not accurate enough I will try the more expensive Navionics version of the same map.

FYI

Good luck with your new boat, guy!

I have researched this as much as I can. Here is what I know.
1. Navionics has two prices for two different sizes of maps.
2. "Small" maps are $129.
3. "XL" maps are $199.
I am interested in Detroit River and Lake Erie. Each of these can be purchased in the "Small" map @ $129. X 2 = $248. plus shipping or I can buy one "XL" map that includes all of Erie, Detroit River, Lake Sinclair and part of Huron for $199. plus shipping.
If you go to www.navionics.com and look at their maps for the area you are interested in, you might save yourself some money.
The only problem I have is that I can not see paying that kind of money without knowing up front how accurate the maps are.
When it gets right down to it, I'll have to buy the map to find out.
Hope this helps.
