I am looking for suggestions on how to sell a motor. I recently purchased a new motor and needed to act fast to take advantage of the ensetives for the 2009 year models. The dealer here in NJ doesn't want the older motor because it is a tiller. It is a 1992 Evinrude 85 HP Backtroller 20 inch shaft. Low hours and very clean. The problem I have there isn't a market for tillers here in NJ and apparently this motor can not be changed to a remote wheel sterring. Other wise the dealer said he would have jumped on because of its condition. I'm not sure if this could be shipped without a commerical account and I have no idea what to ask for this motor. I was hoping someone in an area where tillers are popular would be able to give me some guidence on the value of this motor.

Try posting with a picture at Boat Trader in this catagory:

This site may even give you an idea of worth,if you can find something similar on it.

Of course there is always Craigslists and Ebay, however,if you use Ebay unless you specify
for local pickup only, you will have to arrange for shipping if someone buys it.

You may want to get a second opinion on if that motor is able to be converted to remote operation.

F&F,
Post an ad on the Chicago IL Craigslist boats section, there was a guy in this area looking for exactly what you've got. I didn't save his posting or email address, but maybe he'll see your ad.
