I have a 1999 Evinrude Ficht 115hp tiller on a Warrior 2090BT and am turning around 6000 to 6100 rpm's at WOT. What is the recommended WOT operating range?

I believe it is 5500 rpm

best results for that were 5000-5500, I'll double check it this week. You definetly do not want to be running at 6-6100rpm!!!!

At that rpm the injectors do what we call "float". This means the injector can't recharge to a full amount of fuel injection and therfore lean out. Leaning out creates a hotter engine and can melt things... not good things like cheese either!!!

Also run xd-50 or xd-100 oils. THe carb-x really helps keep the engine clean and prevents cylinder scoring.

Please do check Eric as I have been told 5500 to 6000 rpm and that seemed kind of high to me.

My Evinrude 1999 EE service manual for 90-175 hp motors shows 5500-6000 rpm for the 90 and 115 hp.

MikeF. is that for a 1999 Ficht motor? 5500 to 6000 rpm WOT?

I have a 1999 115 Ficht motor.

I have a 1999 115 motor manual that covers these 115 Ficht models

E115FPLEE

E115FSLEE

E115FPXEE

The rpm range for these motors is 5500-6000

What is your model number?

May be different for a tiller.

It is one of the models listed and I was running it with a light load so I am going to leave well enough alone. The previous owner ran it this way since new and has had good luck. Thank you MikeF.

Why would you even ask if you are going to do what you want to anyway? The WOT range on a 1999 115 ficht is 5500 max. Its that simple. I am a marine mechanic, and this is not something I just pulled out of the air or from under a rug. Its right out of the manufacture's book. You run it how you want and with any luck none of us will ever end up with your motor on a used boat.

Mike F is quoting a max rpm range of 5,500 to 6,000 for the 1999 115 Fichts, quoted directly from his owners manual. Do you have a more accurate source than the owner's manual? If not, then it seems that the original poster is runing right where he should be with an extremely light loaddd. One would think that his setup would have caused a problem in the 1st 10 years of operation if it was an issue.

Knew here....Hello. I have a Fitch 115, i try not to go over 5100 rpm's. Princraft 176 superpro haule.

From what i read here, could bump that up to 5500? At 5100, i still have throtle left, like to play it concervative, but if 5500 rpm is still in the zone, next time out, might just do that.

Does prop pitch dictate the rpm all out range? I beleive the prop to be the stock model. Just had it re done, had a couple of dings on it. feed back would be nice

I'm not anyone with any authority. But, when I owned a '99 FICHT, 175, which was one of their problem children, I was advised to prop it to be able to run at the max allowable RPM's, per the owner's manual, at WOT. They would otherwise be more prone to carbon loading, which was a nasty cause for many engine failures.

Good place to go for this kind of info, and a couple of the guys who helped me out still hang out there (seahorse being one). They're probably going to say something similar.

BernL- you just resurrected a 2.5 year old thread. This thread should be closed. I encourage you as a new member to take advantage of the search feature. There is a wealth of information related to the basic knowledge that you are seeking.

#1. There is no such thing as a stock prop. Prop selection is an inexact science. Prop selection is based upon multiple factors (too many to list)- BUT ultimately, the prop should run in your outboard's maximum RPM range while you are running wide open. As long as it is in that range, you can run wide open. WOT (wide open throttle) you should be ideally around 5500 RPM's.

#2. Although the etecownersgroup.com web site is a fantastic resource with a ton of great information, they will likely not be all that helpful to you if you post there since you have a FICHT (note the spelling) and not an e-tec.
