Hi
We're anticipating lots of traffic this weekend coming into the October full moon - many folks believe this is the trigger we've been waiting for all fall. The water temperature has dropped over the last few weeks, but this week's rain stalled the temp at around 55 degrees. We did, however, pick up nearly 2 inches of much-needed rainfall! Look for the walleye bite to be best right around dark - so far this week 6-7:30 has been the top time slot for the leech/slip-bobber bite. Some of the fish have been taken in 7-10 feet while others are having their success in 27 feet. In either case, the sunset bite is the best. Some of the night trollers are hitting a few fish too, but that often comes a little later in the night. Husky Jerks, Shad Raps and Rattlin' Rogues are the top baits... blue, black and Fire Tiger are the top colors. Some of the better spots include Indian Point, Rocky Reef, Doe Island and Agate Reef. The water level is still low in spite of the recent rain - go easy around the reefs! The perch bite has picked up but the size is all over the board. Use a 1/16 oz jig tipped with a Twister-type tail and a crappie minnow or fathead. This will help pre-sort some of the bigger ones. A small leech on a leadhead works too and you may get more action, but the size will likely run a little smaller. Wahkon and Isle are the 2 best spots. Muskie action is slower than last year at this time.
The surface temperature is 55 degrees.
Yes, we still big leeches!
The reef markers have been removed.

Finally, A little boy was roughhousing with his dog. His mother said to him, "Now, Peter, I know you love Granger, but you're loving him too much. How would you feel if someone huge picked you up and squeezed you so hard you couldn't breathe?" The boy thought a moment and then said, "I guess I'd feel like it was my birthday and Aunt Doreen was here!"
Have a great weekend,
