A few years ago, after misplacing my part, I made one from a small piece of sheet metal. Even with a standard part, it may be necessary to place a rubber band or a small bungi around the tongue to hold the part in place while it is being used. After finding the actual part, I now have a large orange cord tied to it to make it more visible.

A good sized C-clamp works good.
That's what we used around the boat yard all the time.

I glued a refridgerator magnet to mine and it never falls out.
