Want to upgrade on a GPS.Has anyone used the Garmin GPSmap 162 that you can download the CDs on?It looks like a pretty good unit, found a place that sells them with the Fishing Hotspots and another CD for 400.00.

I have the 168 model with fishfinder. The current Mapsource CD is pretty good but doesn't show the contours. A new map CD is becoming available for Ohio called Mapsource that is much improved. The unit is pretty good for the money but I am not real happy with the mounting bracket. The design isn't that great and it tends to flop around after a season's worth of wave bouncing...
I have had a 162 for a couple of years. It is a medium sized unit that comes with an internal antenna or an external antenna. It has 2.5 MB of RAM for detailed mapping using Garmins Mapsource software and/or fishing Hot Spots software. The biggest drawback to the 162 to me is the limit of 500 waypoints and the GARMIN limitation of two GPS units for the unlock codes. The Fishing Hot Spots software is really nice if the lakes you fish are covered, although they overlooked South Dakota for some reason (hint hint to FHS). Before buying any GPS I would suggest spending some time on the manufacturers Web sites looking at specifications. I run the 162 in my boat and truck. It is a fun little unit to play with. Good luck...

It is great unit I have had mine for 2 years, for the price that Bass Pro has it is hard to beat. Get the Int. antenna.
