We had my buddy's new Lund 1850 Fisherman out last weekend on water calm enough to finally open her up. It's powered by a 150 Opti. I was a bit surprised to see it turning 7000 rpm's at wide open throttle. The GPS was showing 48 mph. From what I can tell.. it's running a stock Merc. aluminum 21p prop. I'm not really used to the sound of an Optimax, but it sounded like it was revving awfully high. He had it trimmed up just a bit, but not much.. the motor's mounted one hole up.. any ideas? Thanks.. and Good Fishing, Sluggo (Chris)

Sluggo.... long time...
How's it going, bud?

Any way... that buddy of yours' tach is set wrong.
A Rev limiter shuts them down at about 6200rpms.
The speed sounds right...and so does the prop.

Bring it back to the dealer and they can set the tach to the correct poles.

Terry.. I was hoping you'd reply! Thanks, your answer makes me feel much better. I'd hate to see him scatter his new motor! I've been fine.. thanks for asking. Still hitting Erie's eastern basin on occassion, but Gilligan hasn't left many fish there. Hope you're enjoying retirement.. hopefully I'm not far behind you! Good Fishing, Sluggo (Chris)

Wow! Walt had that rig for 4 months before ever getting to WOT? Guess he should have let either you or Bobber drive!
