Howdy,

I am thinking about purchasing a utilitarian rig that I can take to some wilderness areas. I currently run a 620T and am not willing to take it to places like Georgian Bay or other wilderness camping areas due to rocks, beaches, and other hazzards that will keep me up at night.

On paper, the Alaskan fits my bill as far as rod storage and space are concerned. I also like that it is rugged and plain enough that I would not lose sleep pulling it on shore or subjecting it to abuses that I would not subject fiberglass to. I am looking to rig it with a Honda 90 EFI.

Does anyone have any experience with this rig? I would like to rig it with a 24 volt system Auto Pilot and with full electronics and GPS. Any thoughts, pro and con, would be greatly appreciated.

As always, thanks!

Take care,

Ruddiger

A Friend of Mine has an 18' side console Alaskan - loves it, it's a tank! He uses it as a tender boat - lay-out hunting for ducks. C-man

I own a 18" Alaskan tiller, had it for 5 years now and I think for what you want it for it will be perfect. I also own a 21" Skeeter and use the Alaskan just like you will, fishing where I don't want to take my glass boat and duck hunting big water. You won't be disappointed.

I had a 2002 Alaskan and I put my 50 hp Honda tiller on it. It was underpowered, but it was a good sturdy boat. I traded it last year for an Explorer and went to a console. I think the Alaskan will do what you want it to do.

I sent you a PM yesterday with my phone #. Call me if you would like - My "main" boat is a 620 T, but I also have an Alaskan that I use for exactly what you are considering your's for. I should be able to answer any questions you may have.
