I have been researching a sonar /gps combo for my rig. I just opened the 2002 Cabela's marine catalog and I see the Eagle Stratus combo for 299.95. Has anybody had any experience with this unit? Is it that much different than the LMS-240 map?

I have the Eagle Status and only use for the GPS which seems to work quite well. Can't compare it to the LMS240 as I've never used one. Seems like a good price, but it probably doesn't come with the Mapcreate software or pc connector cable, which I would surely not do without.

For an extra 100 you can get it with the map/create software. I am from Wisconsin and do fish Lake Erie and Lake Michigan at times. Does this software have the large and small lakes on it? What about Winnebago? Thanks for the reply.

Yes, the software will show every body of water, every road, trail, railroad track, etc. It is very detailed and well worth the money.

I also have the Eagle Status and use it as a sonar and GPS on my console. I have an X-85 on my bow for a finer detail since that is 240 vertical pixels and the status is 160 vertical pixels. The LMS 240 has the 240 pixels and would be a little better resolution; however, the status does work very well and I am very happy with my purchase. You do want the MapCreate software since it provides better detail than the default. It still does not have contour maps for lakes like some of the higher end units do. More or less lake outlines showing shorelines and islands. Shows most roads so I use it in my vehicle too.
