Question for those of you running the Troll master. If I install one of these on my Honda 9.9hp fourstroke, will I be able to slow my Idle speed more than it runs at present time?

Right now with the bow mount down up front and flat water I can get down to 1.7 gps... I also thought about slowing my idle a bit, but read on other posts about insuring oil is pumping and not getting RPMS too low.

Please let me know what you think.

Thanks,

The Trollmaster won't slow the motor below idle speed.

If you want to slow down your trolling, see if you can buy a lower pitch prop.

If I were to go to a lower pitch prop, what as a general rule can you expect. Right now I think I have a 9.5 pitch prop right now. Looks like there are "smaller" props available...
Thanks!

I see there is a 6.5" prop available. If you get 1.7 mph with a 9.5, I'd expect roughly 1.2 with a 6.5.

Last summer I changed my Merc 15 horse 2-stroke from a 9 pitch to a 5.5 and I'm able to troll at less than 1 mph, where previously I couldn't go below 1.4. My application is a kicker on a 19' fiberglass boat.

I have a 1998 Johnson 4 stroke kicker on my 182 Crestliner. Before I changed props the best I could do was 1.2 MPH GPS. Went to a four blade High Thrust 9X5 and I can troll at .4. Works great and it allso lets me keep my RPM higher for oil pressure and water pressure. Need to be careful to not over rev.

They do make the 4 blade high thrust to fit your Honda allso. Mine was $60 plus shipping.

Tom Thanks for the info! I was kind of wondering about a four blade. Thinking about one for the cooler times...
Thanks again!!!
