View Full Version : Will there be interference when using an X-85 and X-71?

I own an X-85 and have a transom mounted transducer. I am considering purchasing an X-71 graph and mounting on the bow with the transducer on the bow mounted trolling motor. The question that I have is, will I be able to leave both units on at the same time without one sending false signals to the other? I understand that the bow mounted transducer would have to be in the water before there possibly could be a problem. Thanks in advance and keep up the good work on the message center!

Yup, probably so, especially if you're in water over 30 feet deep. 192 and 200kHz are too close to make much difference.

I have to agree with Al. You'll get interference when the cones collide. If possible you could go to a 50/192(or200)khz transducer for one of the units, this will eliminate any cross talk. The ping timing of transducer A is picked up by transucer B, Making unit B interpret the sound ping from transducer A, quickly followed by the signal from transducer B (the right one) this makes the unit do not so funny things it shouldn't. The units are calibrated to evaluate return waves at a set speed in water, thus you get accurate measurements to bottom, and fish. When they get to much info the puters lose control and turn into drunks on 12 volts.... :)

Yes you can go with a 50kh transducer, keep in mind that in shallow water like 10 feet or less on hard bottom ive heard some units in the 3000 watts area have burnt out the transducer.
