i just wanted to tell all of you that i think Vista Cam Sucks!!!
i am now on my second one and i just came back from fishing. opened up the case and looked at, IT HAS WATER ALL OVER IN THE LENSE!!!!! i can't tell you how mad i am. it is hard enough paying for college etc...., but having to keep spending money getting this camera fixed is really making me angry. i take perfect care of it and i have went through 2???. makes me wonder how good of quality these are??
i guess i wanted to warn anyone who is deciding on getting a camera. spend a little more and get a better product.

Ryan,
I surely can understand your anger. Been there, done that.
Just some advice ... have you gone back and talked to the store that sold it to you? Maybe they will exchange it. If not, have you called the manufacturer? Maybe they will replace it.
I know many guys in my fishing club that one a vista cam. They are all happy with their purchase. You could have received a bad batch?

i am going to be able to get a new camera i think. that's not he point i guess. the point is: why can't people make a product to be durable and long lasting? i am tired of getting ##### that only last a year or two and then crumbles. i can see it happening once, but NOT twice. and i bought it from Bob Jensen, so i have no store to take it.
maybe it's just me, i guess i do have that kind of luck.
and after reading that lawsuit post for a guy bashing some company, i would like to say, for the record, sorry to Vista Cam and i hope i didn't hurt their business.............. or did I?

For those who don't know Vista Cam, you might have hurt their reputation. I have owned a Vista Cam for 3 years and never had a problem. I think you, the user is doing something wrong. If you are using this thing in the winter, be care about freezing the unit. I do believe you have to keep these above freezing and be careful. I treat mine like a baby because I can see these devices as fragile. Maybe you should just get a new on, sell it, and save your money for your education than bashing products.

Ryan get a life if you have issues with a product go to the manufacturer and store dont bash them in an open forum you guys give the whole industry a bad name. If you are so smart you surely should take some of your college knowledge and apply it to the manufacturer not in an open forum. They should start sueing people who do this. You give this site a bad name and another reason they should go to a registered forum. We should start posting dont go to college because you cant afford a quality product and do nothing but complaining first they steel your stuff, is it possible you arent even readining the instructions. Get some guts contact the manufacturer not whine in public forums this is for constructive issues not non constructive.
Walleye boy:
I don't mean to bash you or take anything away from you, I only say this to call your attention to something that you may not have noticed.
In your post, you just did everything that you ripped Ryan for doing.

In this country, we celebrate freedom of speech.
Anyone here reading a post can decide for themselves what to take from it. We don't need censors as you suggest.
The poor college kid has a gripe. He is free to air it publicly. I learned a lot from Ryan's post. Most people were quick to respond that the camera is a decent unit.
Don't you think there was some value then?

I know of a person who has had the same trouble with water in his camera. I suppose it was his fault also.
No one makes a perfect product and any reasonable person would not make a purchasing choice based on just these 2 cases.
I'm glad Ryan said something. I'll be getting some sort of underwater camera before this summer. If someone has trouble with a product I'm glad if they speak up and tell us about it. I don't only want to hear about the good things, I want the bad as well. Input like this, good or bad, is wonderful when it comes time to make a purchase. Also, Ryan has been around this site for a while so I don't take his post as a hit and run slam against a company.
Best Regards,

>You give this site a bad name and another reason they should go to a registered forum.
Is that why you're registered??
If someone has a problem with a product (let alone the same problem twice), I sure want to hear about it!!

I have nothing against Ryan or whatever my point is that if you have a gripe take it up with the company first if you dont get satisfaction then deal with it. But I have also had seen many a person gripe about trolling motors electronics etc and found that they didnt even read the instructions properly. Boats motors etc Ryan didint ask if anybody had the same issues he just slammed them for having a bad product. He hasnt tried to work through it with the company. I dont think any manufactuer delibrately tries to make a bad product but all manufacturers have issues as they are dealing with human being and we all know know one is perfect. Slander is slander. I also was not politically correct when I slammed him and I do apologize

Ryan used a very important phase when he said "I think" Vista Cams
suck....The "I think" qualifies the whole deal as his opinion.
We know Ryan here and follow his adventures and misadventures
of being a poor college kid.
I hope he contacts the proper people and gets the problem fixed.
I say no harm no foul. I hope Vista Cam takes care of it.

i guess i could start off by saying that i simply wanted to let people know my opinion on vista cam. ok, it could be just my camera that broke twice! i take more than adequate care of my fishing equipment, but i can't prevent the camera from leaking. that has NOTHING to do with me! also, Vista Cam's service department, IN MY OPINION, is not very good. i called to see what the return policy was on my camera and he told me to call an HOUR later after his lunch break!!!! what kind of customer service is that??? he was more than rude. i guess that has something to do with my anger towords them also.
Hey walleye boy:
i am not going to bash you but, i would like you to know that i am registered and i have been on this web site for a while. there have been a lot of people that make post on this site like, "What is a good underwater camera to buy?" well, i was giving my opinion. last i checked, it's a free country. worry about yourself. there are a few people that know who i am here. i have never bashed anyone or any product here before. i am sorry if i made it sound like that.
my final thoughts are: personally, i will NEVER buy a product from vista cam again. their product and their technical support have spoiled me from their company. however, there are many people, i am sure, that have had zero problems with their camera. i just want to give an opinion from both sides of the fence.

Woe is me. Poor college kid has enough money for Vista Cam, but is upset when he gets a lemon.
Randy, I too bought one from Bob Jenson. Mine shorted out after a few uses. I e-mailed Bob and he was very helpful. He got me the manufactures phone #. I called and within 7 days I had a new one. Very good service!!!

Everytime I ever had a defective product from any manufacturer, they or the store have always taken care of it. No exceptions. Inconvenience yes, but you'll get used to it if your one of us - those who always get the broken one, etc. There are different levels. Some always have things happen to them...
Being nice when you talk to the Co. is likely to be effective. You can be firm if necessary & still be nice. Make sure they clearly understand the pertinent information. They are not interested in anything else. I like the cup is half full approach - at least the Co. guy answered the phone! You indicated you expressed anger with him, & this dedicated employee just answered the phone during his lunch break! LOL, poor guy...lol
Dont get me started with Walleye boy, come on loser, what do you think this forum is for. He has a ligit concern over a crappy product im glad he said something, i almost bought one, and a registered form, your a guest too, you geek. Leave your name and number where people can get a hold of you and then we will listen to your, make no sense opinions.
another guest user, figure it out, but your so smart, leave your name and number and ill give you a call too

Just a little observation: How can a "Guest User" vie for a registered forum?!?

Vista Cam is an underwater camera, like the Aqua Vu.

Ryan I agree my point is that I think for better service you need to contact the manufacturer or the store. I think them telling you to get back after lunch is pis poor service but it is the employee not the company. I myself had issues with Vista cam but they did replace the unit and the new one works fine. I used a diffent method and went straight to them. I also feel explaining to them the issues , the method of use etc not only will get you better sevice but allow them to make changes in there product if needed. Intelligent feedback not just your unit sucks.

And then you guys wonder why someone is hesitant to register. It sounds like we're at a bar and you want to step outside. Like I want anyone I don't know calling me at home. Let the guy talk. If you don't like what he says don't listen. But I'll bet anyone thinking of buying a camera (after reading this thread)will be asking about return policys and support staff.

You took the words out of my mouth. Complaints from one side of the mouth while looking for "best price" out of the other.

We tried out an Atlantis, and we have tried out the service dept. It is a good unit comes with a nice water proof case that is tough. The only thing is the have a screwy wire hook up and that is what lead us to the service dept. fried the moniotor. However got a new one and an extras when we worked with the service dept. We will probably sell them from our store now that we know the sales people as well as the service dept. folks. Good unit in our opinion.
What a load of crap Aquaman. Its not like they give the VistaCam away. A consumer can at least expect a product to function as advertised. Viewing quality or something like that may differ by price but any underwater camera should be WATERPROOF.
