I'm going to buy a few line counter reels this spring, and I was wondering if I should just buy the Diawa's right away? I've also been looking at the Okuma Line Counters, how are they? Are there other brands I should be looking at ? Thanks.

Personally, I would go with the Diawa's. I will be buying a few more this season. I currently have 4 and they have never given me any problems.

Buy the dawia's the will last forever. I had an early okuma and the line counter broke first day out. It does would good for lead core now. I have two old 47's that are at least 6 years old and two new 27's. Just put some new grease every year.

I have two Okumas and the drag system doesn't compare to the drag system on the Daiwas, especially with bigger fish. If you like to free spool the drag with bigger fish go with the Okumas, but I would pay the extra and buy the Daiwa's.....You won't be sorry.

My dad has 4 Okuma reel that he has been using for 4 or 5 years now without any problem. I am very impressed with the Diawas. One time a year I goto the Gulf Of Mexico fishing for Amberjack, Red Snaaper, and all those other fish. When I went 2 years ago I bought a LC47 and but 50lb Berkly Whiplash on the reel. The reel has performed great. I gave it to my cousin to use when he is fishing down there. He lives in lower Alabama and he uses it 3 or 4 times a week for the past couple of year. I told him he could have it, but I really just wanted to test out the reel, but so far no problems excellent reel. I figure if the diawas can handle the salt and stess of those powewrfull fish it should last for a very long time in the walleye world.

Thanks,
