i have a 05' 250 verado on a 2025 lund...my question is the highest i can trim while running is 3.8 according to the smart gauge. is there some sort of smart technology that wont allow it to trim up after such an rpm is hit? of coarse just putting around it will trim up but when talking off full throttle it stops at 3.8. i swear when i first got the boat(cpl months ago) that i had it trimmed up higher than that got about 4-5mph more out of it. I was thinking i saw it around 5 and im certain the gauge needle was just a tuoch above the 5(9o'clock). honestly it acts like it lacks power under aload. i havent checked the fluid level yet but while it sits in driveway the trim never settles at all. any insight on this would be appreciated. thanks

You can set your trim with the Smartcraft system. I believe I set mine for -5 to +10 and it works great for me. Look in your Smartcraft manual and it will walk you through it.

Thanks for that bit of info Dakotah.

Eyecatcher, I run a similar boat motor combo, and don't see that high of number when trimming. Are you reading the trim on the analog gauge, or the digital smartcraft guage? What hole is your motor mounted?

I'm usually 1.8 - 2.1 - but have trimmed up to 2.6. I guess it's just a relative measure.

As Dacotah posted you can manually calibrate the trim on the smart guage by following the manual. Since this can be modified for each boat I don't feel you can get a true trim reading to compare from one boat to the next.

With that being said, your dealer can hook up a computer to your Verado and adjust the trim regulator. The internal trim regulator will stop you from over trimming the motor at higher rpms. The trim regulator in my 250 Verado has been set for maximum trim but I wish I could trim it a little further.

well, from what i can gather from the veradoclub, it sounds like a battery issue. i checked the main eng bat and it showed only 12.1v and today tried to charge it with no luck. sounds crazy that would affect my trim since it has no prob starting it. honestly its still got me baffled:confused: and they say that all verados should be have a AGM bat.
