I know this is a probably a subject that is beat to death, but I need some advice. I have a hi-5 prop now. Motor runs 4900-5000 rpms @ wot. About 48-49 mph on gps. This is a 21P prop. I don't know the diameter, but if someone tells me how to measure it I can put it on here. This is a 97 200hp optimax, on the back of a 1900 pro v.
Now for my questions:
What rpm should or can I run @ wot?
What am I gonna gain and/or lose by switching props?
Do I need to even worry about it?

I do not want to be spending money on a bunch of high dollar props. My holeshot is great. I know back in my bass fishing days when I tried a 5 bladed prop it slowed my boat down. A 4 blade gave me just what I needed or wanted. Granted this boat is not a bass boat but certainly it should, I would think, run 55-60 mph. Maybe I'm clueless. Just give me some numbers and I'll be on my way. Thanks

I sold (ran,owned. etc) a lot of those boats w/ 200 engines.
You have the wrong pitch and not the best choice of prop.

Put a 19 Merc. Tempest on it.
Then you'll hit the recommended RPMS and you'll get more speed.

You generally don't need a high 5 on a ProV...(in big swells they are nice, however).

Ok I'll start looking for a 19 pitch. But let me ask something else. With the 5 blade 21P compared to the 19P, I'm guessing 3 blade? will my trolling speed go up or down? Right now if I remember correctly it's just over 3 mph. Granted most of my trolling is done with my kicker, but I found in real rough water, into the wind, my big motor works a little better, just a little faster then I want to go. That's for me anyways.

Your troll speed will go down a slight amount by going from a 21p anything to a 19p anything. ;)

If you like the High 5 send it to a good prop shop that is cappable of tuning it to your boat If your interested send me a msg I know a good shop that can repitch, change the cup, blueprint or just about anything you want done. Is it a new style or Old style High Five? New style has plastic vent plugs old style has thinner blades and hex shape vent holes..If properly tuned to your boat the High five will give you a great holeshot and will also give you a top speed faster than you want to run in rough water and it will not blow out in really rough water.
