This is what I know they are adding some of the one touch buttons to there smaller units, other than that 09 line is the same as 08 . That is the last up-date I had Juls or some else might know more. Nice units just the same!!

Check out the the new design on the 700 series.
More pixels (640X640).
Screen resize. (Wider Screen).
3 preset buttons just like on 900 and 1100 series.
Also because of the 700 series you get the quick mount, this feature is great easy on/off.
Able to see in sunlight very well, best on the market
All of this for under $700.00. This is one great unit. Check one out at your local dealer or upcoming sport shows.
Any questions please give me a call 1-218-255-3535, as i have run the 700 series units for the last 3 seasons.

That link says select Humminbird models have an "internal GPS". If that means an internal GPS antenna, is that something new to Humminbird?

You have had the option of external or internal for GPS.

After I had a look at the above referenced material on the Humminbird 700 series units, I had a question. Why does Humminbird claim target separation as 2 1/2 inches? I've always divided depth of water in inches by the number of vertical pixels to obtain the size (in inches) of the one blank pixel required for target separation. For 60 feet of water and 640 vertical pixels, that works out to be 1 1/8 inch. For 30 feet of water, a depth I'm much more used to fishing, the size of one blank vertical pixel would be a little over 1/2 inch. Consequently, I would have thought that Humminbird could claim a target separation much better than the claimed 2 1/2 inches. Can someone please explain the error in my thinking? Thanks in advance.

The screen pixels may not be the limiting factor. Other things that might create the resolution limit are the frequency and shape of the sonar pulse and the performance of the pulse detection electronics.

With my LMS-527 DF, I see better target resolution at 200 KHz than 50 KHz, same pixel-count screen for both.

There will be quite a difference in the pulse width in the 200 and the 50, the 200 has a much smaller pulse width, hence the better seperation.
