View Full Version : Handheld Radio Problem

I bought two hand held radios at a recent boat show. I brought them home and read the instructions and then put them on the chargers. One of them seems to work fine and the other is having a problem. When I turn it on, it just goes to static and is not working properly. It is supposed to be an automatic squelch so there is no adjustment. Does anyone have any solution? My city has another sportsman's show this weekend and the same dealer will be there. I can probably take it back, but I want to be sure that there is no problem on my end first. Any advice? Thanks.

If I were you, the first thing I would do is contact the dealer and ask him to leave you a ticket for the show at the door, so you can go in and talk to him personally about it. It's my guess you just got a dud with that one. If the other works just fine, and they are the same units, and they have auto squelch, something just isn't right with it. Give him a call, he just might leave you a ticket and exchange it right there for you. You never know until you ask.

Just an idea to save you a few bucks and a headache.

Westy,

What type of units are they if you don't mind me asking? I work for Motorola and if they are more of the advanced two ways, I may be able to help. If they are Talk Abouts, I would take Juls advice.
Let me know.

I bought it from Reeds and I am going to the show anyway, so I will just probably bring it back tomorrow. I am sure they will take care of it. They seem to be pretty good with their service. Thanks for the idea, though!

The radios are just a couple of cheap hand helds for goofing around. They are Midland Speak Easy Model 75-517. Just bought them because I thought they would be fun around the campground or out hunting/fishing. Guess I had some extra cash burning a hole in my pocket at the last sports show and just couldn't leave without something. Thanks!
