I am trying leadcore line for the first time. What is the best knot to tie mono leader and leadcore together?

Nail knot works well for my crew !
Try to tie it on dry land a few times to get the hang of it .
It can be tricky to tie on the water the first few times .
Good Luck !

I add a drop of superglue to it also, and they bond together very well.

I either use a uni knot or a number 12 barrel swivel to join mono and leadcore.

I pull back the line off the leadcore and trim the lead off, leaving the outer line. I tie that to a barrel swivel with a clinch knot and then the leader to the opposite side of the swivel, and the tie a duolock snap the the end of the leader. This way you can adjust the length of your leader to whatever conditions you are encountering.

try the "albright" knot..here's a link to a cool site with animated view of how to tie it.http://www.marinews.com/fishing/Knots%20&%20Rigging/fk_albright.htm

Walteye,

I have tried doing it the way you describe, which is suppose to be the correct way, and have had no success with being able to pull back the outer sheath. I have tried and tried and can't do it! I use Kerplunk lead core and would change in a heartbeat if it meant it would be easier to do it the way you described.

Quite possibly that the end of the lead core has a "hook"to it , catching the outer line. I use the Cabelas lead core,17 lb test, and cut the line/leadcore with a pair of scissors to start. It might take an easy feel to pull on just the outer line, not sqeezing and pull on the lead at the same time. You trim the lead with same scissors, cutting the lead out of about 4-5 inches of the line. It really is a matter of a soft pull on the line, and having the end without a hook to jam the two pieces together.
