The new boat I ordered comes with a Sirius ready radio. The kids are thinking about getting me a Sirius radio for Christmas...........one that can be moved between our two vehilces to use when we are on the road traveling back and forth to the lake. Can the Sirius portable radio be docked and used through the boat radio or is that radio made to be set up with its own account? I know it has a jacket to plug an ipod/MP player in. Not sure if the antenna on the boat would work with the docked unit or if I would have to mount another one like I would on the vehicles. ???

Another questions is about the different packages. Is it possible to have a cheaper package during the winter when we spend less time in the cars and then upgrade during the summer when we are traveling more?

Thanks.

I have a Sirius plug-n-play receiver....so I have a docking unit for it in my truck, in my house, and in my boat. With a docking unit, you can permanently mount the "dock" in your boat and tie that into the "AUX" plug in your boat stereo, and when you are done...take the receiver with you. The alternative is that you have a "subscription" for your boat ($12.99 month I think it is), and a separate subscription for another unit ($6.99 each thereafter). The one receiver, with multiple places to dock it, seemed the best alternative for me. Each docking unit comes with its own antenna...they are small, I just velcroed it to the dash in my boat. As far as packages, there is really only one main package, but you can upgrade to a "best of XM" that includes a few more stations, but I'm not sure that it is worth it...depends on what you want to listen to. Check their website for more info on the programming.
