Thinking about buying an 07 Opti with 19 hours mounted on a 17' 8" Alumacraft. Never had a motor bigger than a 115. Are these good motors and anything special I should know about maintenance etc?

Is that the rig up in Sheboygan? That motor is barely out of break-in, I'd take it to a dealer and have them hook it up to the computor, and see if the break-in was done properly, and if any other issues are present. It should still be under warranty. Other than what seems to be an awful frequent schedule to replace the impeller (100 hours or 1 year, whichever comes first) I believe they're pretty reliable motors.

...and it's been the best motor I've ever owned- and that's about 30 motors going back to the 1950s. It always starts, idles great, good holeshot, and very smooth at all speeds. In the years I've had mine I've put in 3 sets of plugs- 2 of which were to upgrade to improved plug designs. It has never fouled a plug or even loaded up, no matter how long I troll with it. In addition, I've replaced the impeller 2 times- when the water pressure at idle falls below 1.25 psi- the Opti 150 runs a high volume low pressure water pump. Also, I replaced the thermostats once, when the coolant temp during a prolonged troll at 800 rpm exceeded 165 degrees. I probably could have cleaned the stats but figured I may as well just replace them. Yearly maintenance is just changing the lower unit fluid and fuel and air filters, plus lubing the grease fittings and linkages. One tip I can give you is to prop the rig for about 100-150 rpm under the upper rev limit with a light load- Opti's should not be over-revved or you risk compressor damage which is costly. Mine is rated at 5250-5750 rpm and runs best propped to about 5600 rpm with just me in the boat.

Nope, it wasn't me. I just Googled a bit after your first posting, and found the ad. You gonna buy it?
