Juls,

Thanks for the update on the league events. I noticed that your post has the Winnebago event located in Fon Du lac and the FLW press release has it located in Oshkosh. Wich one is a typo?

Congrats to the FLW on the Wissota finals that will be a great change of pace.

My Bad....:sorry:
That part of the press release is a "picture" on their site, and I had to type in the schedule here...I couldn't just copy/paste it.

When I think of Winnebago I think of Fond du Lac...I used to camp there a lot. :)

Thanks for the heads up!

Let me clarify my post, I enjoy the competition if the tour regular guys and gals are actually fishing in the leaugue tournaments, what grinds me is when they are strictly PREFISHING and they move in one you:mad:, when I or fellow competitor are actually fishing the event.

So sign up, fill the fields higher payouts

They schedule them like that so more guys will be in town so they DO fish the league event, which totally makes sence. Last year during the league event on Erie only a handful of Tour fisherman actually fished the league...which puzzled me...if your there throw your chips in and FISH.

It puzzled you why more did not fish????

Could it be because there was solid wind for days, off color (mud) water and 6' waves????

When 16# wins an event on Erie, that should tell you the conditions were terrible. The tour happened the next week and those folks caught lots of nice fish...normal Erie...fishing in some of the same places the League folks were. Also fished some places the League folks were not because it was too ugly to get there.

That may be why.

I hear you but when you sign up and register for a tourney you have no idea what it's going to be like as far as conditions go. The guys that sign up for any event sign up to fish regardless of water and wave conditions, league or tour event, as a tourney angler it's something you just have to deal with no matter what.

The day before the league event the lake was flat calm and fish where biting, I know because I caught big fish the day before, the weather sucked the day of the league event but it could have been really nice out...you just don't know. So weather had nothing to do with guys signing up for the league because that happens way before people see the forcast.

I fished both the league and the tour event on Erie, so yea I know of the quality of the fish that were caught, overall it was a slow bite but alot of big fish were caught.

moreyes i hear yah. in 2007 wi league event on gbay we were working a small series of humps on our first pass , across the bay comes 2 boats operated by gaunder mountains two most famous employees, set right up on our pass, pre fishin for the tour out of esky the following week, at least one of them did fish the league also this year.

on a different note the finals on Wissota will be interesting with the slots.

Special Fishing Regulations for Wissota Lake:

There is no minimum length limit on walleye, but walleye from 14" through 18" may not be kept, and only one fish over 18" is allowed.

That will certainly make it interesting......... Steve

Having the championship come to Wissota is certainly a big surprise for those of us that fish it frequently. I have been fishing it for 12 years, and guiding it for the past 3. It is a fun fishery but is dominated by smaller fish.

The special regs will make for an interesting event. Our club held a tournament on Wissota last June. Our permit allowed 5 fish in the boat (the 5th fish guarantees that one of the 2 anglers had reached their possession limit of 3), weighing 4, with up to 2 fish allowed to be 18" or over and the rest under 14". The winning weight was 8.28 lbs, and the big fish was 3.68 lbs. There are some more details about the event at the link below:

Whatever the outcome, our local group of dedicated walleye anglers is ready to welcome the FLW's best to town in September.
