Given todays economic situation, how many of you are still planning on purchasing a new fishing boat within the next few months? and if so aluminum or glass ? more or less then $25K. Cash or finance?

Not me. In 2008 I re-powered my existing boat, and bought a new tow vehicle. I'm done for now.

i'm thinking about getting a pro guide. Either a 2010 with a 200 or 1825 with 90. Both would come in blue to match my Dodge Hemi. Which motor would you go with? verado/4 stroke or optimax? Can the Titan system go on a 90 optimax.

I dont think verado makes a 90hp,and personnaly i dont like trolling with an optimax-so if it has to be a merc the 4 stroke non verado is your only choice i see.

Can the Titan system go on a 90 optimax.

I've got a prototype Titan system on my 75 Opti, there is also an early system on a Merc 75 4S out there. Some minor changes are being made, availability should be sometime this spring. Drop me a note if you want to talk about it.

Just bought a new tow vehicle. Going to pick it up Friday. Finding what I wanted (GMC/Chevy Express AWD LT passenger van with a trailer package) was a real pain. Found only 3 within 600 miles of me. Next thing I'm going to do is buy a bunch of stock in oil companies.

The way my retirement funds are going I might as well buy a boat to go with it. Better investment...

The Verado would go on the 2010 pro guide and the 4 stroke would be for the 1825 pro guide. Does anyone have a 2010 with a verado? It seems that all have 175 optis or pro xs's. Id like to know if it is worth it to spend the extra money for the verado. Does anyone have a 1825 pro guide with a merc. either opti or fourstroke. i'm curious what rpm they will idle down to.

After looking settled on the Lund Fisherman, with a Honda or Yamaha max hp,.
used but going to wait for the MN boat show. Dont like financing anything so been hiding some away just for this (been waiting a while). Would like to look at the G3 but after reading all the input Lund appears the best.
For what its worth I found this site on a fluke, very impressed with the input knowledge, and advise people share. Also HRG has been a BIG BIG help to this novice..(I think his boat would look better behind a chev) Thanks All

Truth be told, in my early youth, I WAS a Chevy gearhead (Vette's, Nova's, Chevelles'), but, having an older brother who worked for Ford for almost 30 years, it was hard not to take advantage of the no-BS employee purchase plan they offer. But,,,,, a black Z06 or ZR1 would look pretty good in the garage too.

Honestly, in 35 years of driving, I can count on 1 hand the times 4WD would have been helpful. Living in the Chicago area, I don't have to deal with the same level of snow that you guy's in northern MN, WI or MI have to deal with. I agree, they have their place. But, if I don't need it, why pay more up front, incur higher maintenance cost, and less mpg?

BTW, my apologies to Broken Jaw. I didn't intend to take this thread off track.

Always waiting for a great deal I put the money away and wait for that deal. If it does not happen the money just keeps adding up.. I'm a believer in paying myself first, that way I always have it in case of emergency. Whether the emergency is a new boat is something my wife and myself might disagree on. I'm lucky (cheap) enough to be able to save some for my toy's and not have it affect my budget.

I to have waited to find a great deal and did so this fall. I bought a Crestliner Serenity with a 140 4 stroke and full canopy which was exactly what I was looking for. The boat had only been used 17 hours and is better than new as it had all the add ons that I wanted. I had sold my tiller boat 2 days before I picked up this boat and the difference was only $2500. I was fortunate to have everything work out as it did, but now I have to wait a very long 5 months to really get to use it.

Nope, I bought my 05' Pro V in 06' as a carry over and honestly, their is nothing new that is better to me. Why upgrade to the same? Unless I go glass of course which in my mind, the price is over the top. My Pro-V isn't even broken in yet!

Picked up my new Yarcraft 209 TFX on October 30th. Love the boat and the ride is fantastic. The Yarcraft staff are some of the best people to work with that I have ever met.

Just bought a new 08 1500 GMC Sierra extended cab in April and a new 08 Alumacraft Navigator 175 w/ a 115 4strk 08 Yamaha sitting on a Prestige custom bunk trailer in November. This boat fits my fishing style just great, can handle the big water I fish on being 17'8" and having a 95" beam with a 25" transom. Speed is OK too, both top and bottom end.

Good luck,

Traded in my Triton for a new Ranger last April. Happy as a coon in the cornfield with the hounds tied up. Now that GAS has come down, maybe I can float her.

Found a sweet deal on a '06 Ranger 620vs w/E-tec 225 and 9.9. Less than 19k. This was in November so haven't had a chance to use it yet.
Updating from a '95 Crestliner Phantom 1960 w/150 pro-v and 15 4str.
Can't wait till spring.

I'll buy two for that price. Anyone else have one to sell at a price like this? Can always use a another toy.

Kind of unbelievable, isn't it?
