I'm not familiar with this engine but am looking at buying 2004 model. Should I be concerned.

Thanks for your input.

It's a suzuki motor in white overalls. Sleep peacefully!

Howdy,

Well said. The motor IS a Suzuki and, at the risk of starting a drop down drag out flame fest, is best in class for a 4-stroke (IMHO and no disrespect to Yamaha or Honda who also make fantastic products). Don't take my work, however. Do a search of the archives on the motor and the boat of your choice. You will not be disappointed.

Take care,

Ruddiger

I have an '03 140 Suzuki that I bought new and it has been a great motor. I guess the 140 is a tweaked out 115. I would not hesitate at all in buying another Suzi.

I have an '04 Johnzuki 115 on my boat. Fantastic engine! Quiet, quiet, quiet. Starts and runs like a champ all year long ever since I bought it new. It is not very old though and I have not put a huge amount of hours on it - BUT I use it to fish with the boys and pull tubes and kneeboards with the kids. It is just fine with low or high RPM's so you can putter around with it or scoot to the fishing hole. As you can tell, I like it a lot. I only wish I had gotten a 140hp version of this motor. My only warning: be careful not to hit the starter while it is running. Like a dummy I did it a lot in the beginning - now I look at the Tach.

I had a 04 Johnson on a Lund Pro-sport. Motor served me well, always started and ran super quiet. With that said I was somewhat disappointed in the power perfomance when I got my new Lund Fisherman 1750 this fall. I have that boat equipped with a 115 Merc. EFI. Runs just as quit, starts just as well, but I get better performance with the Merc. The hole shot is about the same, but time to plane and top end speed are way better. Upper 40's with the Merc on a heavier boat. I could only get 39 with the johnson.

I guess it's not that big of a deal, but just my experience. My understanding is that the motor has been a fantastic runner.

I had that exact motor (2004 Johnzuki 115) on my Crestliner 1750 FH. Fantastic motor. I fish 12 mos/yr up here on the upper mississippi, and that 115 never missed a beat, even in the dead of winter. All I ever did to that motor was the regularly scheduled maintenance, absolutely no mechanical issues whatsoever. I'd buy another in a heartbeat. I gave me so much confidence in the suzuki line that I put a suzkui 175 on the back of my Ranger.

I have an 05 140 Johnson 4S and just love it. Very quiet and fuel efficient. You cannot go wrong with this motor.
