View Full Version : PWT measuring controversy
I read the post below and it sounds like there was a controversy at Lake Sharpe on measuring the fish. Anyone care to fill me in?

I asked the same question yesterday, but, nobody posted any answers. Kind of makes me wonder if its one of those little things that got blown out of proportion.
The controversy is about the PWT and the pro's decision's to run roughly 50 miles in big waves. Some of the pro's took shelter at one spot and were told to stay their by pwt officials and were then DQ'd for not being back on time.
some of it is also about how the officials determine if they should call the tournament off or not.

That was a different post topic all together. There were post referencing Gary Parson's protest to how fish were being measured. Follow up post to what the MEASURING controversy was. I believe this was a day two event. The measuring topic had little to do with the fields decisions to run 50 miles and weather and safety conditions along with PWT communication issues on to stay or make weigh in.

I re-read this and I don't want it to sound negative. I believe what I was trying to say nicely is that others had posted or insinuated that there was a measuring controversy (Day Two)in addition to the topic that 65 responses generated on the final day of the tournament.
This has to do with Sam Anderson's fish on day 2. In the measuring tank it was called that there were 3 fish over the slot size, but measuring a fish one way counted it under 18". He had 2 over18" but on his ruler the other was just under. it depended on which side the fish was measured to make it over the limit or under. The practise in question was about measurement procedures and dq's, as Sam was originally DQ'd but it was reversed.

Do you know what side of the ruler produces the best results. LOTW has a slot limit also. I'm sure the guys that were dq'd for to many fish over 18 would like their fish measured on the generous side
