I posted this yesterday on the Boats and Motors board but I need some more opinions.
I have a question for some motor experts out there. I am looking to buy a 25-30 hp. I found a 1992 or 1993 Yamaha 30 hp, 3 cylinder, manual start, short shaft for $1200. The same seller has a 1994 Evinrude 25 hp, electric start, short shaft for $1000.00. I have heard the 30 hp will be a smoother running because of the 3 cylinder, but the 25 hp will be easier to resell because of it's common and high demand size. Let me know what you think. What's the best deal? What would you buy? What experiences has anyone had with these motors?

Thanks Dman

Couple of things to consider. First Evinrude is out of business and at least for now parts are hard to get,and when you do the price will be at who ever has it disgretion. The Evinrude will smoke most the time. The first thing Bombardier(the company that bought Evinrude) did was get rid of most of the Evinrude plants and most of there equiptment. They said stuff was old and could and did not meet tolerance standards to be compeditive in todays market. The Yamaha in my opinion is the best engine in todays market. I work on motors everyday and the Yamaha is superior in every way. I know this is vauge but can explain on phone if you wish.
