I do a lot of trolling on Erie for Walleye using dipsey divers. Either long lining or with planer boards. Currently I use two 8' - 6" MH rods and two 8' - 6" M rods. The M rods seem to be too whippy for dipseys, they just don't have the backbone needed. The MH rods have the backbone needed to flip over the dipsey or to work the fish while reeling it in. Looking to buy two more rods, but longer for when I use the dipseys. If I go with 10' or 10' - 6" rods, assume that I should I stick with MH vs M? I know that I have probably answered my question but I am just looking for some opinions when using the longer rods. Thanks.

I have used CPDR80M Okuma rods for the last 8 to 10 years without a problem.

That is an 8 footer.

I use the 86M for Salmon on Lake Ontario. 8 1/2 footer.

The rods are soft, but not too soft that you can't control the fish.
