Are there systems out there you can get that are stand alone and aerated? Have a small livewell and keep bait in it, but the local tourney guys require (which I agree with) a system to keep the fish as fresh as possible. Haven't had this problem yet because they all go right back.

Thanks in advance,

There are a number of factory made set-ups. The one I would suggest is the "Marine Metal Poducts" one that is on the left hand of the page, #218, in the 2002 Bass Pro Spring Master catalog. It is listed as "H". I have used these to transport bait and as a back up livewell pump. You can also make a rig with a cheap bilge pump, a couple feet of hose and a 18" chunk of pvc pipe. Drill 1/8" holes(every inch), in the pvc pipe and fasten it above the water line in your tank, pointing the holes toward the water. Done deal. Great spare too!

Whoa......just a minute.
The ice idea is fine.....but you will KILL the fish immediately if you dump a bag or two of ice on'em or float a block in with them.
Just remember, the fish in the heat of the summer, live in 75 degree water. Oxygen IS the key. Even when not circulating FRESH water through the livewell. A little ice won't hurt in EXTREME conditions, but do it very sparingly. Been many a horror story in tournaments when ice has been used on the fish. Keep it for the crawlers....and the "pop".
