I want to use my 522 for icefishing this year. I looked at the LEI site for accessories and thier portable pack is $200 with shipping. I was wondering if there is a cheaper way to convert this. I already have the battery and can use the power cable off of my boat. So I really only need an iceducer and a pack. I was thinking of using a blue Genz pack like the one that my Vex is on.

I use a size 24 battery box. Mount the bracket to the cover on the end where the wires can run under the cover. You can store supplies inside the box besides the battery. Should cost about $6.00 and works great.

Matt- That's what I used, I had an old Genz box laying around. I bought an ice ducer and fab'd up a way to suspend the transducer cable in the hole (my box is really old, never liked the original arm that came with it).

It works great. I really like the zoom capabilities and adjustability of my LMS on ice. One advantage of Lowrance's ice pack would be it's smaller footprint- It fits in a bucket etc.

Here's mine in action...

Does anyone know where you can buy the just the Genz box? I can't seem to find one on line.
