spinning rods

I was looking at the St Croix Avid spinning rods and I noticed that they came in two widths. One is about 1/4 inch at the handle and the other is about 3/8 inch. What's the difference? FYI - I'm looking for a good rod to drag a Lindy type rig in about 7 - 30 feet of water.

Go with a 6'6" ML or a 7'0" mL. either one will do a great job. I will check the differences between the two rods if you give me the model numbers.
