My 26C is having issues with the backlight--so I made arrangements with Lowrance to have it checked over. Before I send it in, I wanted to save the waypoints on a chip--so I saved them as Data.usr file.
I put the chip in a friends H2o--and it recognizes the file--but,
When I tried to load this file off that chip, into the H2O handheld unit, I got this error message:
User data file version is not compatable with the current software version.....

thoughts ???

Further, my intention is to use a H2O unit to enter all my waypoints from old units manually at some point, and then be able to utilize the chips to store/sort waypoints easily for backup...anyone doing this?
Should the data entered into the H2O read directly into the 26C ??

The two units speak the same computer language. I believe th GPS can only hold 1000 wpt's and 100 trails. I suspect that the error message was related to the amount of memory in the unit. I recommend plugging the chip into your computer and save it so you have another backup. At the end of every year I save all my waypoints to the computer and burn them to a C.D. I have a C.D. of my waypoints and my old man has a copy of the C.D. in a fireproof safe. That way if something happens I know I woun't loose all my hard earned waypoints.

Both the H2O and the 26C are almost empty--trying to transfer the first 50 waypoints as a test.
Eventually I want to load to a cd also--as you are doing.....but for now the H2O doesn't load the info on the chip.
Still hoping someone has another idea...thx.

have you tried updating both units to thier latest software versions?

I seem to remember having this issue once a while back. I am sure there is an answer on the Lowrance site if this isnt it

Lowrance saves files as 2 choices Version 2 (old way) and Version 3 (depth is saved with the waypoint) I think the 27 saves as V2 or V3 depending on the software updates you did. I don't think the H20 loads V3.
