Using rod holders on my Sports Trak brackets. And there not solid. Anyone else have this issue?
And does not matter if its standing down or laying on top of the .
Any ideals? Need them to be solid.

When you say "Not Solid", what do you mean? I don't have problem with mine. Pics?

I don't have a problem with mine on the sport-trac system. I pull some heavy stuff on mine, still going strong.

I have only had mine for one season and no problems yet. Actually I think they are great. Move them anywhere on the boat with ease and lock them in. Drag what ever I want. I believer mine are the Ram mounts. IMO

No problem here either. Have Folbe's rod holders mounted on mine and never had an isssue with them being unsturdy.

Well I fish for catfish also. Let a 30+ or better blue hit. And it bounces around like the rod is going to come out of the holder. Just fishing current allows the rods to move the mounts. Shoot even when pulling crank baits there not solid. The mounts twist a bit. Now if I'm just using bottom bouncers or something light, there ok. But put some pressure on them and there's lots of movement on the bases.

Mine are real solid also!! I hate to say it but I have 4 of them with rope cleats on them I use them to anchor my boat when I am trying to maintain a position on top of a micro hole. I have an 18' Mr. Pike and I have anchored in up to a 2' chop from these. I have never broken one. This works real well because if I want to fine tune the position of my boat on a micro hole I just push the sport track bracket to a different location and the boat location will change also. This gives me infinity adjustment works real good to adjust the boat to fish a spot on a spot. This also eliminates having to mount a bunch of rope cleats on the boat where you think you might need them.

Never thought about that minor adjustment using this system. Good idea
Tn_pete,
Why don't you return your mounts to Lund for warrenty replacement.
I have been in many different lund boats with all kinds of fishing going on with no issues on these mounts.
Take care

I have an 18 Mr. Pike as well and use 6 of the Lund Mounts with RAM rod holders. They have been great. Don't move unless I want them to.
Good luck with yours.

What about using 2 brackets, side by side, with maybe a 1/2" x 3" x (length) piece of aluminum bar stock, bolted to the Sportrak brackets, and the rod holders attached (drilled and tapped) to the aluminum bar? This way, the load is spread across a pair of brackets, rather than just one, yet still no holes drilled in the boat, and still moveable?

HRG that is a good ideal. But I flipped them where they lay on the top rail. Then added a piece of rubber under them. Now there better.
But may try the way your talking about later on. Also don't forget about the big floats before spring.
