Strikemaster electric auger

Just bought a new electric/battery auger. Not real impressed with the cutting. It snags really bad as it goes through the bottom of the ice. Is anyone else having these troubles? Thoughts?

we have a strikemaster electric for use inside the icehouse, its the 8" without the battery
when it snags the bottom i can hold it

i'd say that the electric snags less then the 4 blade gas strikemaster we have
