In the Pine Point area of Leech Lake we have about 17″ of ice with snow cover of about 10″ to 12 inches which is becoming more compact all the time. Roads are beginning to be plowed and a network of driving lanes are beginning to appear, making it possible to get around on ATV’s, snowmobiles and 4WD vehicles. More roads will be open by January 3rd. Hard water anglers are getting on the lake at Pine Point, southwest side of Trader’s Bay, Shingobee area and Walker city park. Walker Bay is not drivable at this point, waiting for the ice to develop more.
Our guests are fishing in the Grand View Flats of the Walker Narrows and between Pine Point and Goose Island. The area has been producing nice Jumbo Perch and Walleye. Jigging in about 17 to 18 feet of water with a glow rattler or jig both tipped with a minnow head. Shingobee area has been giving up nice crappie and blue gill.
